Shaun the Sheep beats Postman Pat in BBC character poll

The stop-animation character, who made his debut in the 1995 film Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave, was given his own series in 2007.

Over 40,000 people took part in the poll, conducted by the Radio Times and the British Film Institute.

Richard Starzak, creator of Shaun the Sheep's television show, told BBC reporter Sally Challoner that he was "really taken aback" by the result.
