Rare blood disorder unit opened in Bristol

A specialist unit treating people with rare blood disorders has opened in Bristol.

The Therapeutic Apheresis Unit at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre is one of only six in the country that can treat conditions such as sickle cell anaemia.

Treatments include harvesting stem cells for transplants and gradually removing, treating and replacing patient's blood.
