Newfoundland dogs being trained to save lives

A number of Newfoundland dogs are being trained to save lives by the charity Newfound Friends, based at Clapton in Gordano in North Somerset.

The charity is hoping to replace Whizz, a dog that saved nine people from drowning during his life.

Whizz was awarded for his bravery at the Daily Mirror's Animal Hero Awards in 2015, before he died earlier this year.

The breed is often trained in other countries, specifically for their water rescue abilities.
