Bristol Old Vic theatre wall exposed for first time in 250 years

An original 18th Century theatre wall, which has been hidden for 250 years, has been exposed as part of the building's restoration.

Demolition of a 1970s building has exposed the structure which is part of the Old Vic in Bristol.

When it was built in 1766 the entrance was hidden behind two houses on King Street, and theatre goers had to knock on the door and ask to be taken through.

Now the outside theatre wall can be seen from the road as demolition work gathers pace for the theatre's £25m refurbishment.
