BBC Arts film celebrates St Pauls carnival queens

When St Pauls carnival in Bristol was cancelled due to the pandemic, a community lost an annual celebration of its culture.

But film director Somina Fombo set out to honour the event nonetheless, by showcasing black female dancers in their roles as carnival queens to "see us in all our essence".

It is part of the BBC Arts' Culture in Quarantine series and is available to view on BBC iPlayer.
