Cambridge sewer: Tunnel saves months of repair disruption

A technique which keeps the traffic moving and saves money is being used to repair a collapsed sewer in Cambridge city centre.

Instead of tackling the problem from above which would mean months of road closures, Anglian Water is digging a tunnel from below.

Work to repair the collapsed sewer which would have taken five months if the road had been closed will now only take two months and cost about a third of the price.
