Coventry drink-drive mum jailed for Peterborough crash
A drink-driving mother who flipped her car 14ft (4m) into the air in a high-speed crash as her toddler son sat in the back seat has been jailed for 26 weeks.
Tania Chikwature, 32, from Coventry, was three times over the limit when she crashed her Nissan Qashqai near Peterborough on 12 December.
She hit a roundabout while overtaking a lorry, catapulting the car into the air and hitting a tree before it landed on its roof on the other side.
Magistrates heard Chikwature had been up drinking vodka the night before the crash, and a vodka bottle was found in the wreckage of her car.
Her 20-month-old son was unhurt and released by passing motorists.
Chikwature sustained minor injuries and was cut free by firefighters.
She admitted dangerous driving and was jailed for for 26 weeks.
She also admitted drinking and driving, and was sentenced to 12 weeks to be served concurrently.
Chikwature was also banned from driving for three years.
