Self-taught animator makes World War One film at home

Ruth Coggins wanted to make a film about life during World War One, inspired by her great-grandfather's battlefield photos.

She built a set and model soldier then taught herself how to produce animation - from scratch.

Now the film has been picked up by the Imperial War Museum and will be shown at the Montreal Film Festival.
