Truck driver praised after car veers into Cambridgeshire Fens ditch
A man who saw an oncoming car veer off the road and plunge into a large ditch has been praised for his "heroic" reaction.
Luke Wagner, from Anglian Plant Ltd, captured it on his dashcam when he was driving along Upwell Road in March, in the Cambridgeshire Fens, on 11 January.
Mr Wagner, along with other drivers, stopped to assist the man and help him to safety.
"I climbed down the bank and tried to reach for him. Fortunately a few other individuals had stopped and climbed down to assist me.
"One providing a line for us to throw out to him. With all of us together we managed to pull him out and help him up the bank.
"By the time we got him out, his car had already sunk beneath the water."
NARS (Norfolk Accident Rescue Service) posted messages on social media thanking Mr Wagner for helping the driver.
Joe Paterson, the owner of Anglian Plant Limited, said: "Needless to say everyone in the company is very proud of Luke and his heroic actions.
"It’s so pleasing to see the praise & recognition Luke is receiving. It’s well deserved."
