£2m refurbishment for Isles of Scilly ferry

The Scillonian III, the only passenger ferry link to the Isles of Scilly has undergone a £2m refit which has cleared it to sail for another five years.

It comes amid concerns about travel links to the islands after the helicopter service ended and Skybus flights were disrupted because of problems with the runway at Land's End.

New flooring, lighting and catering facilities have been added to the ferry.

The Scillonian III will now undergo sea trials ahead of the 2013 sailing season beginning in March.
