Warwickshire villagers fight to keep historic hedge
A bid to save a historic hedge from being cut down in rural Warwickshire has been launched.
The hedge, which borders Five Ways Road in Shrewley, is thought to be about 170 years old.
It is on land owned by Haseley Manor Estate who hope to redevelop a nearby barn and want to remove the hedge to create better visibility.
Villager Sue Miles said she did not realise how old the hedge was until the group did some research.
John Wharam, from Campaign to Protect Rural England, said it was important to protect it as it was part of the heritage of the county.
