Thirlmere death: Bystanders 'saved woman's life'

A woman whose brother died swimming in a reservoir in Cumbria was "saved" by nearby bystanders, an air ambulance paramedic said.

Muhammad Bilal Bhaty, 28, who was visiting the area from Pakistan with his family, died after getting into trouble in Thirlmere, near Keswick, on Wednesday.

His 22-year-old sister was rescued from the water by bystanders, who performed CPR until the air ambulance arrived. She was airlifted to hospital and has since been discharged.

Andy Dalton, from the Great North Air Ambulance, said those who got the woman out of the water "must take a lot of credit for saving her life".
