Girl's 10-month wait for heart swap

A nine-year-old Cumbrian girl is recovering after undergoing a heart transplant.

Katelyn McAleavy, from Whitehaven, had waited 10 months before a suitable donor organ was found.

Doctors at Newcastle Freeman Hospital, where the seven-hour transplant operation was carried out, say she is now making "remarkable progress".

She is out of intensive care and should be able to go home soon.

Look North's Damian O'Neil spoke to her family.
