Crosby Garrett Roman helmet goes on show

A rare Roman artefact which sold for £2.2m after it was found in a Cumbria field is to go on show in a museum.

The Crosby Garrett Helmet, named after the field near Penrith in which it was found by metal detectors, was bought by an anonymous private bidder,

Now, following months of negotiations, is to be displayed at Carlisle's Tullie House Museum until January.

The museum had attempted to buy the helmet when it was auctioned in 2010.
