Cumbria Police to use drones to tackle crime
Drones are to be used by a cash-strapped police force to tackle crime.
Cumbria Police has been testing two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and has already used them to search for missing people.
The £2,300 devices send footage to officers controlling them from the ground.
Ch Insp Matt Kennerley told North West Tonight's Dave Guest that UAVs were cost-effective and could be used in "situations where deploying patrols would put members of the public or officers themselves at risk".
