Ice sculptures take shape for Lakes Alive installation

Thousands of ice sculptures are being crafted with their temporary nature "a reminder of how humankind could melt away if climate change goes unchecked".

A total of 3,000 will form an installation at Kendal Castle as part of the Lakes Alive festival over the August bank holiday.

The figures are formed in moulds before being finished by hand by volunteers.
