WWII mortar bomb found in Matlock car park

A controlled explosion was carried out after a World War II mortar bomb was found in a Derbyshire car park on Saturday.

The device was discovered by workers who were resurfacing the car park in Cavendish Road, Matlock.

A Ministry of Defence bomb disposal team was called to the area to safely dispose of the mortar.

Derbyshire Police said 12 homes were evacuated for up to three hours as a precaution.
