Derbyshire's Leonard Cheshire charity releases rare World War Two footage

A disability charity is releasing rare archive footage of its founder in action during World War Two.

RAF pilot Leonard Cheshire helped 500 workers escape moments before a night time raid on a French factory on 8 February 1944.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity, which he founded, is making the remastered film available to watch on its online archive, external.

The charity's archivist in Derbyshire, Stephanie Neild, said it wanted to share the story for everyone to see.
