Academy to tackle modern slavery opens in Derby

A national academy has been set up in Derby to tackle modern slavery.

The city's university has teamed up with the Gangmasters Licensing Authority to train workers and managers in the food and farming industries to spot the signs of human trafficking.

The details were unveiled at a conference which heard how up to 13,000 people in Britain could be working as modern slaves and how victims will now be better protected.
