Beaminster tunnel work starts after fatal landslide

Work has started on the restoration of a Dorset road tunnel where a couple killed in a landslide in July.

Beaminster tunnel has been closed since the accident, which claimed the lives of Rosemary Snell, 67, and Michael Rolfe, 72, on 7 July.

Engineers have arrived on site to drill boreholes as part of their inspection.

Traders in Beaminster want to see the road reopened as soon as possible but Dorset County Council has stressed safety must be the first priority.
