Charminster church being 'destroyed' by flooding

A Grade I-listed church in Dorset is being "destroyed" by flood water.

Susan Pearson, whose husband, Jonathan, is a church warden, said the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Charminster, was being battered by the bad weather.

Mrs Pearson says a nearby council-owned Grade II-listed bridge is a major cause of the flood problems and should be removed and replaced.

But Dorset County Council said it could not remove the bridge because of its English Heritage listing.
