Alastair Cook: Honorary degree for cricket captain

England cricket captain Alastair Cook has been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Essex.

England's leading century maker, the 28-year-old Essex batsman and was presented with the honour for his contribution to cricket and Essex.

"It's something I never expected when I left school," said Mr Cook, already an MBE. He can now be known as Dr Cook.
