Essex floods: Family rescued from sinking vehicle

A man and three young children have been rescued from their sinking 4x4 vehicle which became trapped in floodwater in Hockley, Essex.

The vehicle, driven by off-road driver Scott Swinford, 30, of Southend, began to take on water in Spa Road, Hockley.

The group were rescued by friends Hannah King and Emma Burles from the town who had turned out to watch the floods.

Ms King, 22, said: "We saw there was young children in the back and then a little girl stuck her head out of the window - that was it, we just swam in as we knew the car was going to sink."
