Concern over Essex Police's 'ambulance runs'
Almost 200 patients in Essex were taken to hospital in police cars in the last year because ambulances failed to turn up.
Figures obtained by the BBC show Essex Police took 185 patients to hospital in 2013. The worst month last year was March, when 22 patients were conveyed to hospital because of "excessive ambulance delays" or "no shows".
Essex Police Federation said even people injured in traffic accidents have been taken to hospital by police.
