Tombstone of Roman woman unearthed in Cirencester
A rare Roman tombstone has been unearthed in Cirencester during an archaeological dig.
The tombstone, made of Cotswold limestone, marked the grave of a 27-year-old woman called Bodica and is thought to date back to AD200.
The discovery has been greeted with "absolute elation", as Roman tombstones are rarely found with the grave of the individual who died, archaeologist Neil Holbrook said.
