Portsmouth learns Ark Royal fate

Residents in Portsmouth have expressed their disappointment after learning that the aircraft carrier Ark Royal is to be scrapped.

The Royal Navy's former flagship is to follow its sister ship, Invincible, to a Turkish scrapyard.

The Ark Royal has been docked at Portsmouth Naval Base since it was decommissioned in 2011.

Following its decommissioning, thousands queued to see the ship during an open weekend.
