Olympic air traffic operation revealed

Details of the operation to keep the skies safe during the 2012 Olympics have been revealed.

Staff at the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) control centre in Swanwick monitored aircraft during the Games when three aircraft were intercepted by military aircraft.

The NATS system is now being studied by the organisers of the 2016 Games in Rio.
