Aircraft carrier nears completion in Portsmouth

Another huge section of the first of the Royal Navy's new aircraft carriers has been completed at the BAE shipyard in Portsmouth.

The forward island of the HMS Queen Elizabeth is to be transported by sea to Rosyth in Scotland for its final assembly.

The structure, which houses the bridge, will sit on top of the flight deck.

Meanwhile BAE has said it was continuing to negotiate with the Ministry of Defence over the future of the Portsmouth yard which employs 1,300 people.
