The history of the Ford Transit van in Southampton

The Ford's Transit van factory in Southampton is closing this week as the car manufacturer moves its production to Turkey.

Over the past 40 years two million Transits have been made at the Swaythling plant and at its peak more than 4,000 people worked there.

That number has dwindled to about 500 with the factory closing on Friday.

BBC South's Paul Clifton looks back at the history of the vehicle.
