Meon Valley golf course-intruding dog shot by mistake
The owners of a golf course in Hampshire have apologised after a pet dog was apparently mistaken for a rabbit by pest controllers and shot dead.
The whippet, called Wilma, was found dead on the edge of the course at the Meon Valley Marriott Hotel and Country Club near Winchester.
Wilma's owner John Kirby, who lives next to the hotel, says neither of his dogs strayed onto the greens and always came back quickly when called.
