Stubbington residents shock after bypass letter error

Residents of a Hampshire village have described their shock at receiving letters telling them their homes were to be demolished to make way for a road.

The letter issued to villagers in Stubbington, warning of compulsory purchases of houses, turned out to be issued in error.

Property consultants had sent letters to 150 residents saying their homes were in the way of a proposed new bypass.

Hampshire County Council has assured residents no homes will be knocked down.
