D-Day: Bedhampton girl in WW2 film traced

Seventy years ago, soldiers massed along the South of England; watching, waiting, for the call to take part in Operation Overlord, and the liberation of Europe.

Tanks were parked in the streets and soldiers filled their time with talking to locals and making a fuss of the children who came to stare in fascination.

A three-year-old girl, called Janet, was filmed watching the build-up among the troops.

South Today managed to trace her nearly 70 years after World War Two ended.

Steve Humphrey reports.
