Student warns of dangers of calorie-counting apps

A student from Worcester, who suffered from anorexia from the age of 14, has described how she "got completely obsessed" with a calorie-counting app.

Sophie, now 18 and recovering, said: "I just became obsessed. I was checking food packets, restaurant menus, just so I didn't go over my calorie limit.

"It was scary how obsessive I got. Before that app I didn't care how many calories I ate a day."

The Worcestershire Eating Disorder service says it's concerned by the increase in the numbers of patients they're seeing who use the apps.
