Spitfire restored at Biggin Hill
A Spitfire plane has been restored to airworthy condition at Biggin Hill airport in Kent.
The project has taken eight years and cost more than £2m.
Peter Monk, who led the restoration, said: "It was very much bent and broken but there was a lot of the aircraft there, of which we used as much as we possibly could."
During World War II three squadrons of Spitfires were based at RAF Biggin Hill.
Laurie Chester, from the RAF Chapel at Biggin Hill, said the airport was "one of the major fighter stations defending London from the German air force that were coming in daily".
