Hedgecoe's image of the Queen held in Kent

The image of silhouette of the Queen which is seen on Royal Mail postage stamps is buried in the archives of a Kent picture library.

John Hedgecoe's iconic photo was taken in 1966 when he was summoned to photograph the Queen. He broke the rules by photographing right into the light but it was the photo she chose.

The photo has become one of the world's most reproduced images with over three billion copies and counting - it has been stored in TopFoto in Edenbridge.
