Rochester civic portraits form part of Your Paintings project

A set of portraits that Charles Dickens described in his novel Great Expectations have formed part of a project putting publicly owned artwork on the internet.

The giant portraits of some of Rochester's most famous citizens hang in the city's Guildhall and inspired the Victorian novelist when he was a boy.

The paintings are part of the Your Paintings online project, with 37,000 artists represented.

The BBC and the Public Catalogue Foundation created Your Paintings in conjunction with participating collections and museums from across the UK.
