Yarnold says Sochi 2014 gold medal 'like Frodo's ring'

Winter Olympian Lizzy Yarnold has been given a hero's welcome during an open-top bus parade in Kent.

Thousands of cheering fans turned out to see the 25-year-old, from West Kingsdown, who won Great Britain's only gold medal at the Sochi Games in the women's skeleton.

St Michael's School in Otford, where Yarnold was a pupil, has painted its gates gold in her honour and has invited the Olympian to paint the last section.

She said having the medal "was like Frodo's ring - everyone wants to see it and I absolutely love to show it".
