Eurotunnel expansion plans could end Operation Stack

Eurotunnel has announced expansion plans which it hopes could largely see the end of Operation Stack.

The operation involves parking lorries on the M20 coastbound when the Channel Tunnel, English Channel or Dover port are shut to traffic.

The firm is doubling the number of lorries it will be able to handle on site to 600, reducing the need to turn the motorway into a giant lorry park.

BBC South East Today's Simon Jones spoke to Mick Lawrence, who lives near the tunnel, Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander, and Eurotunnel's John Keefe.
