Lashenden Air Warfare Museum wants rid of rusty planes

An air museum in Kent has spent the last eight years trying to get the US Air Force to take back responsibility for two abandoned warplanes left to rust away on its airfield.

The F-100 Super Sabre and the Dassault Mystere were originally loaned to aviation groups who passed them to the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum based at the Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.

Some aviation groups have called for the planes to be restored to their former glory.

South East Today reporter Piers Hopkirk spoke to Trevor Matthews from the museum, and Simon Watson of The Aviation Bookshop.
