Magna Carta 800th anniversary marked in Canterbury

A replica of Magna Carta has been carried through the streets of Canterbury as part of events to mark the anniversary of when it was agreed by King John at Runnymede, in Surrey, on 15 June 1215.

People dressed as medieval characters took part in the colourful procession ahead of a Magna Carta Evensong Service at Canterbury Cathedral.

Peter Whittlesea watched the parade and spoke to Gus Gummer, of the Paladins of Chivalry Re-enactment Society, and Martin Crowther, of Canterbury Cathedral.
