Operation Stack overview: Chaos in Kent

Operation Stack is implemented on the M20 when there is disruption to Channel crossings, and involves lorries being parked or "stacked" along the motorway.

When the coastbound carriageway is closed to allow the lorries to park, other traffic is diverted off the motorway and on to local roads.

This causes delays and disruption to cross-Channel traffic bound for the port of Dover, and residents trying to go about their everyday business.

BBC South East's political editor Louise Stewart looks at how Kent has been affected by Operation Stack.

Damian Green, Conservative MP for Ashford and Damian Collins Conservative MP for Folkestone and Hythe share their views on Operation Stack.
