Harbour seals may face survival battle

The Kent coast is home to one of the country's largest harbour seal colonies - but they could be facing a battle for survival.

There has been a big increase in the number of grey seals, which can be up to three times the size of their harbour cousins.

The grey seals have been seen predating on harbour seals and even grey seal pups, the Zoological Society of London said.

It is hoped the society's annual survey will reveal more about the seals' plight and ultimately safeguard their survival.
