Iced rails leaves Ramsgate passengers in the cold

Passengers were stuck for hours without heating and toilets after their train broke down because of ice on the tracks.

About 80 people were on board the Southeastern service from Ramsgate to London when it stopped at 06:15 BST near Chislehurst.

Commuter Dean Gardiner, who was trying to get to work in London, said there had been no heating on the train for three hours and passengers were not able to use the toilet.

A rescue train also lost power, but passengers eventually walked from the train to Chislehurst station.
