Zoo closure: 'We could have to euthanise some animals to save others'

The owner of a Kent zoo says he may have to euthanise some animals in order to save others.

Andy Cowell says it costs £2,500 per week to care for and feed the 120 animals at the Fenn Bell Conservation Project near Rochester, which is based in the grounds of the pub, but with the zoo being shut during lockdown, it has no income.

He said: "I can't think of anything worse than being put in that position."

A public appeal has so far raised more than £45,000.
