Maidstone fire: Blaze tears through nightclub and restaurant

A large fire has engulfed a nightclub and restaurant in Maidstone.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the building in Week Street at about 02:35 BST, and sent 15 fire engines and a height vehicle to the scene.

The fire service said that number was later reduced to eight engines, with the blaze having been brought under control by about 11:30.

No injuries have been reported but people have been asked to avoid the area.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.
