Morecambe food bank volunteer forced to use handouts

A volunteer at a food bank in Lancashire has talked about finding himself forced to use the food he was handing out.

Phil Rimmer and his partner found themselves between jobs and needed to use Morecambe food bank where he helped out.

He said: "There's no reason to be ashamed.

"People go there because they do actually need it, not because it's a free handout."

Nigel Rix of Clitheroe Christians in Partnership and Mark Hirst of Community Solutions North West also talk to BBC Sunday Politics North West's Stuart Pollitt about the support available at food banks in Lancashire.
