West Yorkshire probation bosses warn of reform risk

Probation bosses say handing over sections of their work to private companies could lead to higher levels of re-offending.

Sue Hall, chair of the Probation Chiefs' Association and head of West Yorkshire's Probation Trust, said reforming the system is a "high risk strategy".

Under new government plans, private firms and charities will be contracted to supervise low-risk offenders on probation in England and Wales.
