Yorkshire 'rhubarb triangle' grower's fears for crop
Mild weather could have a dramatic effect on Yorkshire's so-called "rhubarb triangle".
E Oldroyd and Sons, a rhubarb grower in Rothwell, near Leeds, said yields were going down because the crop was growing at the wrong time of year.
The area between Wakefield, Leeds and Morley has 11 rhubarb growers where once there were more than 200 firms.
A speciality of the West Yorkshire area is "forcing" the rhubarb by growing it indoors under dark, warm conditions in long, low sheds.
