Remembering the Bradford and Leeds Pals Battalions

In northern France 100 years ago British and French soldiers were preparing for the Battle of the Somme.

It turned out to be one of the biggest and bloodiest offensives of World War One.

Thousands of soldiers from Yorkshire were there and many belonged to the Pals Battalions. These were men who had grown up together, worked together and signed up to serve their country together.

Many died or were wounded during the offensive, between July and November 1916.
