John Atkinson: Rugby legend's wife on 'cruel' Alzheimer's

The wife of former rugby legend John Atkinson has described the devastating impact his Alzheimer's had on their lives.

The 71-year-old died in December after being diagnosed with the condition five years ago.

Speaking ahead of his funeral, Carol Butterfield said: "It isn't soft and fluffy. It is the most horrendous, evil, corrosive illness."
